ReplyDeleteAttended varshika shradhha of my father in law on 15th July 2026 in new building which is still under finished. As usual the entire program was hurriedly over in just 1 1/2 hour. Food is hopeless. Vada and ambode size has come down to 1/3 rd of the regular size. Serving is hopeless, food items brought in carrier, which was just sufficient for 7 to 8 people ,managed to 11 people but charged for 11. Taste and quality of food, which was graded good earlier, has come down. Overall felt unsatisfactory.
ReplyDeleteThinking of shifting performing the ritual of my Father to some other place
We recently conducted our father’s annual ceremony (Vaarshika Thithi) at the newly renovated Brahmavartha building (near Banashankari).
ReplyDeleteWe had informed the management in advance that we would need to leave by around 2:00 PM to pick up our son from school, as the school is very strict about pickup timings. We were ready on time and started the ceremony at 11:45 AM. The Homa and Pooja went well, but the problems began immediately afterward.
There was only one person (who had also participated as one of the Brahmanas during the ceremony) available to serve food for the 10 members of our family.
Our experience was very disappointing for the following reasons:
1. In the past 15–20 years of conducting ceremonies here, we have never been asked to take the Pindas ourselves to feed the cows because there were no arrangements made by the management.
2. Help had to be requested several times to clean the tables and arrange seating before the meal.
3. The same Brahmana had to carry the food from the kitchen (located on the lower floor) all the way to the room on the 5th floor, at the far end of the corridor.
4. Food service was significantly delayed.
5. The main priest himself had to bring the banana leaves and water jug upstairs and arrange them for our family of 10.
6. Salt was not served. Only two vegetable dishes (gorikai and beans) were provided, both in very small quantities. There was no balekai, bale dindu, or sweet potato palya, although one of these is usually part of a traditional Thithi meal. Even the limited quantities served ran out, and there was no second serving.
7. Buttermilk was served instead of curd (mosaru), which I have never experienced at such ceremonies before.
8. The rice was overcooked.
9. Main priest who sat with us for the lunch walked off mid way when there was a delay of serving!!
10. We were charged extra for drinking water bottles without being informed in advance. This has never happened in all the years we have conducted ceremonies here.
11. Even after we raised our concerns—both with the manager on site (before the food service, when the delays had already become apparent) and with the main office—they merely acknowledged that there was a labor shortage and admitted that mistakes had been made. However, no effort was made to address the situation or provide additional support. The response from both the manager and the main office reflected a casual and indifferent attitude.
12. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and not worth conducting future ceremonies here.
13. This entire experience occurred at the newly renovated Brahmavartha building. We noticed the long list of generous donors who contributed to the renovation. I sincerely request them to also look into the quality of operations and management on the ground, not just the infrastructure.
14. The charges are also quite high and do not justify the quality of service provided.
